Limiting Beliefs

To identify common limiting beliefs that prevent you from living the life you desire and reshape these beliefs positively.

When to use Limiting Beliefs?

I use this exercise in the first few sessions of a coaching program to help realise limiting beliefs. I also use this exercise on an adhoc basis when I hear limiting beliefs, such as generalisation “All men are …”, “I will never..”

How to use it ?

  • Step 1: Imagine and write on a paper your dream life if money and time was no issue. Write as many details as possible.
  • Step 2: Write everything that is you from reaching this dream life.
  • Step 3: Write the childhood negative stories you tell yourself such as "my parents were poor," "my father was strict."
  • Is there any overlap between Step 2 and 3? Analyse the answers
With CliftonStrengths assessment
Reverse-engineering past successes
Analysing when you are in the flow
Inquiring reflective questions such as:
What do you get complimented on?
What do your colleagues, boss or friends value?
What do you like about you?
